Neurosurgery at the UCSD Medical Center provides the full range of contemporary neurosurgical practice. The Neurosurgery Service uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders. Our approach integrates our neurosurgical expertise into multi-disciplinary teams involving multiple specialities to provide a comprehensive strategy to help patients with neurological illness.
Currently, the Neurosurgical Service continuously staffs medical facilities at UCSD Medical Center-Hillcrest, UCSD Medical Center-Thornton campus, the VA medical center, Rady Childrens Hospital and our Inland Empire locations. Thirty-one neurosurgeons, 14 of whom are residents-in-training are on the staff. There are operating rooms dedicated to neurosurgical procedures and a continuously staffed Neurocritical Care Service Unit and Stroke ICU.
