Dr. Pamela S. Jones joined the faculty at UC San Diego Neurosurgery in September of 2016.
Dr. Jones performed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Stanford University, and her medical training at the Tulane University School of Medicine with AOA honors. She completed her residency in neurological surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston. Following residency, she remained at the MGH to pursue fellowship training in pituitary and endoscopic skull base neurosurgery with Dr. Brooke Swearingen and Dr. William Curry.
During her residency training, Dr. Jones received her Masters of Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. Her research focuses on studying neurosurgical outcomes by looking at national trends through large database research as well as through clinical trials of novel brain tumor treatments, with a focus in immunotherapies.
Dr. Jones is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and serves on the executive committee of the CNS/AANS Tumor section. She is a past socioeconomic fellow to the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies (CSNS), and she currently serves as a neuro-trauma consultant for the National Football League (NFL).
Dr. Jones is the Associate Program Director of the UCSD Neurosurgery residency program, taking an active role in resident education and surgical training. With a special focus in brain and spinal tumors, pituitary tumors and cranial base tumors, Dr. Jones sees patients at the Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health in La Jolla and has a hospital-based practice at TriCity Hospital in North County San Diego as well.
