Moyamoya Disease

Moyamoya disease involves the progress narrowing of the carotid arteries which supply the brain.  Patients may present with transient ischemic attacks or stroke or hemorrhage.

Dr. Bob Carter at UCSD has specialized in the treatment of Moyamoya disease, utilizing both indirect and direct bypass procedures to augment the blood supply to for patients who are suffering from reduced blood flow to the brain.
