Dr. Joseph Ciacci Named Neurosurgery Residency Program Director

February 2010

Dr. Joseph Ciacci, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, has been named UCSD's Neurosurgery Residency Program Director.  Dr. Ciacci, having recently served as Associate Program Director with Dr. Lawrence Marshall has now been asked to lead the program as UCSD Neurosurgery expands its clinical program in the next several years.

"Dr. Ciacci is an oustanding educator in his own right and since joining the faculty in recent years has dedicated himself to the residency program, mobilizing efforts to improve the didactic and clinical experience signficantly."  noted Dr. Bob Carter, Chief of Neurosurgery at UCSD.

The UCSD Neurosurgery residency is San Diego's only program for training new neurosurgeons.  Many of the region's neurosurgeons have trained at UCSD and are a credit to the quality of the learning environment.
