Herniated Cerivical Disc

The UCSD Neurosurgical Spinal Program has specialists who treat ruptured or herniated cervical discs that compress the spinal cord and the peripheral nerves.  Disc herniations may be severe (threatening quadriplegia or loss of function) or asymptomatic.  Surgeons are guided by patient symptoms, neurological exam, and imaging studies to determine whether a recommendation for surgery is appropriate.
