UCSD Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology Fellowship
The UCSD Department of Neurological Surgery is pleased to offer a 2-year fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery. The Committee of Advanced Specialty Training (CAST) of the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS) certifies the program for one graduate per year.
Minimally invasive and interventional surgical techniques are radically changing the face of medicine. Neurological conditions previously considered inoperable or terminal are now routinely treated with relatively short recovery times and excellent outcomes. This fellowship focuses on hands-on clinical experience under the direct guidance of experienced attendings coming from neurological surgery, neurology, and radiology. Common cases include ruptured/unruptured aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, atherosclerotic disease, and acute stroke intervention.
In additional to clinical responsibilities, fellows are also expected to teach junior residents, engage in research, and understand recent literature. The academic calendar of both the department and the university offers a broad array of educational opportunities, including weekly Grand Rounds, case conference, and research seminars. Also, a complete endovascular simulator is available for fellows through the UCSD Center for Future Surgery.
Qualified candidates from multiple specialties are welcome to apply. Generally, a candidate should be near the end of an ACGME certified residency or fellowship and have had general training in clinical neuroscience as well as specialized training in neurocritical care, stroke, and neuroradiology.
Only one position is available per year.
We are currently accepting applications for positions starting in July 2019. Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
-Current curriculum vitae
-Three letters of recommendations
